Basic Guide for Meta Classification – Updated Federation Date 5789 A.I.*

A Meta, by definition, is an atypical terrestrial being not wholly unrelated in appearance or genetic makeup to humans. These beings are believed to be the result of a genetic mutation that causes them to have abnormal physiological traits or abilities. No clear limit has been established on what these traits or abilities can be, but a system of classification is in place to determine the potential danger posed by these beings upon encountering them. The classification system is as follows:

D Rank – An above average human that poses no abnormal amounts of danger to a population. Traits that may fall under this rank: heightened athletic capabilities when compared to others of the same physical build or a heightened intellectual capacity.

C Rank – An individual that is capable of truly inhuman feats of physical abilities (i.e. 3 to 4 times the average of professionals). C ranked Metas are prohibited from entering into sports due to the inability of non-Metas to compete with said physical capabilities. They are considered non-threatening until proven otherwise.

B Rank – An individual that possess abilities such as advanced stage pre-cognition or telepathy. Largely considered to be non-dangerous from a physical standpoint but can be a threat from a mental or financial standpoint. Use of these abilities for political or financial gain has been declared illegal and is punishable by time in a Federation penitentiary.

A Rank – Considered dangerous to the point that being a known A Rank Meta is a crime. Individuals of this rank exhibit abilities that are physically impossible for normal humans. Low level telekinesis (up to 10 pounds), strength equal to that of 5 to 8 times the professional norm, super speed (covering 2 kilometers in under a minute), brief levitation, mental manipulation (i.e. advanced telepathy), and other enhanced abilities that do not warrant an S ranking.

S Rank – To be detained immediately, lethal force is typically authorized. These individuals are capable of manipulating the natural world by using extreme abilities. Powers or abilities that warrant an S rank are as follows: advanced telekinesis, mental possession, pyromancing, invisibility, electrical invulnerability and manipulation (terminate on sight), flight, terra-morphing (terminate on sight), strength and speed that are past the limits for an A rank, invulnerability (to weapons, diseases, and natural disasters), immortality (terminate on sight), vampirism (detain at all costs), and light/dark energy manipulation.

Any powers or abilities that are not listed above or expressly defined are to be classified by the on-field commanding officer. *
